They are the only players among the top 10 still going in the tournament with French duo Kylian Mbappé and Olivier Giroud battling Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez for the top honour.
It would take an almighty effort for anyone to challenge the top four, with a hat-trick required to challenge the elite pack.

There's still time, but players have started to consolidate their claim for top spot. Kane is the reigning Golden Boot title holder though he netted just twice in the 2022 edition. The Tottenham striker does leads the assists table with three to his name.
The next highest total in Russia was just four strikes, which a bunch of players were closing in on after the group stages alone.
Six is the magic number, or so it seems. Scoring six in World Cup finals would have won you the Golden Boot in 10 of the last 11 World Cup tournaments dating back to 1978. Brazilian superstar Ronaldo notched eight in a stunning 2002 competition.
